Hello again all my foodie friends! Yassss! Today is Friday, and not only that, but its the last day of school, (which means no work for me), until after Thanksgiving! What do I have to be thankful for today? That it’s Friday before a holiday!
But, aside from Happy Friday, today is also the day before I begin the whole routine of getting ready for the Thanksgiving Holiday, which means house cleaning, grocery shopping and prepping food. I know I’ve been slacking this last week, but let me tell you, that stomach bug really got to me. Every time I ate something, for the whole week, I was nauseated. But, soon I’ll be posting some food blogs about the things that we prepare for the holidays around here. Consider this the big wind up before the pitch, so to speak.
Let me give you a run down of what I plan on showing you.
Homemade Cranberry Relish
Pumpkin Pie from Our Roasted Pumpkin Puree
Caramel Apple Pie (Hopefully! Our pickings of ‘big green apples’ is more like little green apples)
Stephanie is making her famous family favorite, her stuffing.
Fresh Green Beans and Mashed Potatoes (Hey! I won’t assume some people can’t even boil water so I’m gonna help ’em out!)
I’m also going to try to do homemade dinner rolls. I say try because it is a bit time consuming, but I haven’t made them in about four years and they’re SUPER SUPER delicious! Stephanie hasn’t had them yet since she moved here so maybe it’ll be this years treat.
I’m sorry I won’t get most of this stuff up until the day before Thanksgiving, so they might not be much use to you this year, but there’s no reason you can’t make this stuff for Christmas dinner, not to mention you can put it on your check list for next year.
Also, I do want to mention that many of my favorite recipes were found in other places YEARS ago and I’m not claiming that the ones which aren’t family recipes are my own recipes. If I still have the name of the source, I will absolutely give them credit! On the flip side of that coin, we all make twists and turns and changes and splashes to recipes we find, or that someone else has written the base for, which might make them so much better, at least in our eyes. This blog is about cooking and eating and loving to do both. Not who made a peach cobbler first. I just want to throw this out there!
Alright friends…time for me to go make some game plan and time for you to get ready for the upcoming Thanksgiving blogs! Happy Friday!
